Lahontan GeoScience evaluated water resources and the status of water rights in southwestern Nevada for a large utility that was considering the area as the location for a new power generation facility. The project involved an assessment of the how the project might impact existing water rights and a review of several issues before the State Engineer’s office regarding the interests of several competing applications. The water resources in the region were evaluated by reviewing the existing information on water wells and and estimating basin recharge. LGS also developed specifications and costs for a water supply well to support the proposed project.
