The I515 Hazardous Waste Technical Study has been conducted to support the findings of the Environmental Impact Statement/Section 4(f) Evaluation (EIS) for the proposed roadway widening and improvements along I-515 between the I-515 / I-15 freeway interchange in Las Vegas to Foothills Drive in Henderson. The purpose of the screening study is to identify to the extent feasible the presence or likely presence of any hazardous substances or petroleum products on parcels where property takes will occur due to the construction on I-515. The study consisted of the three main tasks, 1) Review and evaluation of existing environmental databases, 2) Review of historical aerial photos and maps and 3) A limited reconnaissance of selected sites. This study is one of a series of technical reports to provide detailed supporting documentation for the discussions presented in the draft and final Environmental Impact Statement/Section 4 Evaluation documents. It has been prepared for the Federal Highway Administration and the Nevada Department of Transportation for the proposed project in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1970, as amended, and the implementing regulations and guidelines as set forth by the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
